Joe Biden has always been at the forefront of offering services where there is always a call and likewise resistance

Joseph Robinette Biden Jr., the 46th US President, is busy with a lot of things. This has always been his public service, a fact that stubbornly persists, unlike those defeats in his private life, let alone the political victories that seemed impossible. Joseph was born on the twentieth day of November 1942, with a good moral standing owed to the good morals instilled upon him by his hardworking parents. Joseph Robinette Biden Jr., the forty-sixth President of the United States, started as a Kenyan but moved on to something more engaging.

He has always been a public servant, but one who faced extreme private losses and also great political successes. Born on November 20, 1942, in Scranton, Pennsylvania, it was his parents who taught him all these values like hard work and determination that he grew up with.

Joseph Sr., the father, attempted and failed to secure a job that would enable him to sustain his family members, because of his hard work he managed to get employed as a car salesman who sold pre-owned vehicles, whereas his wife Catherine Eugenia, commonly known as Jean Finnegan, took good care of Biden and his two siblings.

Childhood and Adolescent Years

When Biden's family moved to Delaware, Joe was ten. They settled in Claymont Delaware, where they moved the Biden family when Joe was 10. He joined Archmere Academy, a private Catholic school he joined where he did well both academically as well as in sports despite his severe stutter. This inability led him to practice certain techniques like standing in front of a mirror and reciting poems to control his speech. Despite having pursued a degree in history and political science from the University of Delaware, he graduated from law school in 1968.

Ingress of politics

Biden decided to join local politics early in his career. He was chosen to represent New Castle County Council in 1970 while practicing law for a short period. He took a big risk by running for the U.S. Senate at 29 years old in that same year which many thought could not be won. However, this risk paid off and has continued to work for him up to now amidst other far-fetched reasons. Amazingly he had trounced J. Caleb Boggs, a sitting US Senator, hence becoming one of the youngest ever elected into Congress.

Almost immediately, after Joe had won the election, there was a horrible accident that happened to him. At that time, in December 1972, when he was doing his Christmas shopping, his wife Neilia and their one-year-old daughter Naomi lost their lives in a car-related accident. Even though both his sons Beau and Hunter were severely injured in the same accident, they managed to live. Biden couldn't quit so he remained in office against all odds after an option was chosen to run the government without his presence and it happened at the hospital where his sons had been hospitalized that he took the oath of office.

This deep gloom and desolation hugely influenced the person he turned into and how much he committed to public service.

Senate Career

After many years of working in the Senate, Biden was known as a guru in matters of criminal justice, courts, and foreign affairs. During the period 1987-1994, he was the Chairman of the Senate Judiciary Committee where he handled tough Supreme Court nominees including Robert Bork and Clarence Thomas during their confirmation phase.

At this point during the Thomas hearings, Joe Biden was facing criticism and one major area on which he was criticized was how he handled Anita Hill who had accused Thomas of sexual harassment an issue that will stick with him for as long as he lives.

Biden not only served on the Senate Foreign Relations Committee but also helped to mold United States foreign policy. Consequently, during the 1990’s he adamantly encouraged the expansion of NATO, demilitarization, and the need to keep troops stationed in the Balkans. On this point, he admitted that he was wrong when he voted in favor of the 2002 Iraq invasion in hindsight of post-war events.

Personal Life and Family

In 1977, Biden married Jill Tracy Jacobs who was an educator before marrying him. Thus, her husband has always remained active in politics because she has always been there to help him in bringing up their children; Beau, Ashley, and Hunter. This is also evidenced by Jill Biden’s upbringing of their young son Hunter when the older ones needed more motherly attention.

In 2015, Joe Biden faced a major personal misfortune when his firstborn child passed away due to a brain tumor. This incident led him to consider quitting his career as a politician, but he was persuaded to uphold the tradition of politicians remaining in power for the common good of society.

Vice Presidency

Despite failing in his attempts to run for the presidency in 2008, Biden became the Vice President of Obama after he was chosen to contest for the same by the Democratic presidential nominee. Obama won the subsequent elections and Biden served as the Vice President from 2009 to 2017. In these years Biden was the main man responsible for guiding America’s response to the great depression as well as calling for stricter firearms control laws and defending the rights of homosexuals.

Biden played a huge role in American foreign policy towards Iraq and Ukraine as the Vice President. Additionally, in 2011 he supported President Obama’s approval to continue tormenting Osama bin Laden.

Running for the Office of the President

Joe Biden 2020 announced his intention of vying for the presidency on the platform of being a uniting factor in a country divided by politics, despite which he still got his party’s ticket through endorsements from other aspirants and commanding more votes during Democratic primaries. Donald Trump and Hillary Clinton were the major contestants in the U.S. presidential election. One of the candidates nominated for Vice President was Senator Kamala Harris.

This event had her be the first female African American and South Asian to occupy that position under a major US partyJoe Biden’s campaign faced major challenges of the COVID-19 pandemic, economic crises, social unrest, and racism in American institutions in the 2020 presidential election. The campaign focused on rescuing America from total collapse, eliminating racism within American institutions, extending healthcare services as well as addressing global warming.

His vote share was above 81 million – a number that no American president ever obtained, and also claimed victory with three hundred and six votes of electoral colleges; two hundred and thirty-two votes were cast for the then-President Donald Trump.

Presidency

During his presidency, Mr. Biden has undertaken the process of curbing the coronavirus very cautiously with a very strong urge to have more citizens vaccinated; he has implemented certain relief measures for the economy. He has been passionate about infrastructure ever since he approved a $1.2 trillion development bill meant to promote unity across the political divide and reduce environmental pollution by half a percent. Pulling out of Afghanistan, a polarized political landscape as well as the contradictions in immigrants and voting rights are some of the challenges his administration has faced.

The qualities for which Joe Biden has been recognized since he started serving are empathy, tenacity, and public service. From when he was a young senator before becoming the President of America, his journey for over four decades was not without achievements but numerous difficulties hit him, and this only proves his enduring commitment to democracy as well as the American nation.

Legacy and Impact

Joseph R. Biden Jr.’s story is that of being able to recover from adversity with the promise to keep working for the public. The prevailing point that most Americans are driven by is his ability to come out strong after losses and failures. Joseph’s tenure has seen the promulgation of valuable legislation besides his focus on extradition pacts or treaties, penal systems, and equity.

At a time never experienced before, that has been so hard to manage, President Biden has been managing a divided country. In the long run, American society is being targeted thanks to this administration’s prioritization of health, infrastructure, environment, social equity, and emphasis on inequalities that affect its population. He has always been like this due to his long-standing experience in compassionate value system retention despite engaging in these activities for quite some time now.
